The stock Ford intake system employs the use of a cold air duct that protrudes through the radiator core support which is an excellent source for cool air (compared to under hood air). AEM’s 21-8122DC and 21-8122DP cold air intake systems are designed to take advantage of the good Ford design and enhance the air flow through a mandrel bent intake tube and a low restriction Dryflow filter. The system features a closed air box that seals out hot under hood air to provide cooler outside fed air to the engine for more power. The intake air management also allows the engine ECU to maintain the ignition timing as the factory intended. The result is a gain of an estimated 8 horsepower at 5000 rpm, and 10 lbs./ft. at 3400 RPM when installed on a 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014 Ford Mustang GT equipped with the 5.0L engine.
Because the filter is in a sealed housing, an AEM Filter Minder Gauge is also included. It mounts in the system airbox and lets you know when the air filter needs to be serviced. The intake interior sound tube is retained so the OEM driving experience is maintained. Installation of the 21-8122DC and 21-8122DP is very simple. AEM’s Installation Instruction Sheet explains the steps necessary to install this power gaining air intake in your 5.0L, 2011 Ford Mustang GT. The 21-8122DC and 21-8122DP, cold air intake systems, are protected by AEM’s lifetime limited warranty. AEM warrants this air intake system will last for the entire life of your car.
